2021-2022 Florida’s Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.)

The following resources are available to all parents of students in grades K-2 to support their child at home with the implementation of the new standards.

  • A parent guide from the Florida Department of Education that includes information regarding the Florida’s B.E.S.T standards, activities, resources, suggested book list, and academic vocabulary has been uploaded onto Curriculum Resources and Schoology under the ELA and ESOL folder in the grade level “Parent Resources” sub-folder for grades K-2.
  • A district created parent newsletter is available in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole that includes grade level expectations, district resources, and everyday activities to support student learning at home that may be found in Curriculum Resources and Schoology under the ELA and ESOL folder in the grade level “Parent Resources” sub-folder for grades K-2.
  • Parent-facing short webinars that are titled “ELA K-2 B.E.S.T Standards” are available in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole in the Parent Academy website at www.parentacademymiami.com/school-webinars/ to introduce parents of students in grades K-2 to the new standards and how they can help their child at home support the implementation of the standards. It is strongly encouraged that you share the parent webinars with all of the parents of students in grades K-2 and post a link to the webinar on your school’s website.
